Diamond Evening Clutch

France | 1957 | Gold, white gold, diamonds

Gold evening bags were once an essential luxury item for women at galas. This sumptuous tri-color gold woven clutch was once owned by Baroness Alain de Rothschild. This faux basket-weave set is made of three shades of 18-karat gold, woven into a soft delicate texture. The front, sides and cover of the inside powder box are all decorated with bouquets of diamonds. The content of this clutch includes a powder box with a beveled mirror, a round makeup case, a lipstick case, and a casing for a perfume bottle. The original invoice, which is well preserved, shows that the set was made over a period of three years, and it remained within Lady Rothschild's possession throughout her lifetime.
