Jadeite Brooch

France | ca.1960 | Gold, diamonds, jadeite, agate

Similar to the Art Nouveau Bee Brooch, the jadeite on this brooch most likely comes from a broken hairpin. It is likely that this hairpin was transferred from China to Europe, then redesigned with diamonds, gold, and onyx by European jewelers in the shape of a scepter. This long brooch was generally used to pin long cloaks in menswear.
